Prepare Server

For a smooth installation of IQ4docs, the system or system environment should be well prepared.

The points below will help avoid problems during the installation and setup of IQ4docs.

It is strongly recommended to use the server exclusively for the installation of IQ4docs to avoid unwanted influence by other software products.

  • Observe the system requirements and dimension the server resources (CPUs, RAM, hard drive space) as generously as possible, see also System Requirements.
  • Use a Windows Server that is as up-to-date as possible.
  • The server should be available exclusively for the installation of IQ4docs, no other software products should run on the server.
  • Install all Windows updates (it is best to restart the server after installing the updates and to check for updates again – until no new updates are shown. Then, the required .net framework should also be up to date).
  • Before installing IQ4docs, take a snapshot of the server system.
  • Install an up-to-date web browser (e.g. Chrome or Firefox) on the server.
  • Create a technical user whose password does not expire (this user will then automatically be used to run the application pools and directory and share permissions). The technical user should belong to the domain and have local administration rights.
  • Check the name resolution. Servers and devices should be resolvable by name (preferably forward and reverse). The device must also have DNS (works well with a reservation in DHCP).
  • In the firewall, open the ports according to the port list, see Network Ports.
